Angela’s and Dory’s may be situated around the corner from each other but we see the two sites as all part of the same idea.

Angela’s is the original, a small sustainable seafood restaurant serving delicious, ethically sourced, sustainable seafood, alongside simple, seasonal vegetable-based dishes. Its little sister Dory’s, contains a shop that sells the raw ingredients we use in Angela’s – from fresh fish and vegetables through to cheese, wine and beer – alongside a seafood bar that overlooks Margate main sands.

Our philosophy for both is an uncomplicated one. We will always consider our people and our planet first, working directly with growers, fishermen and suppliers who understand how to make the most of their produce and at the same time minimise the impact on our environment.

We have also partnered with the wonderful Windmill Community Gardens in Margate to turn our food waste directly into compost – in our own composting machine – to enable them to produce more of our raw and organic ingredients....closing the loop.

Our wines

There are many, many good wines in the world – far too many to put on a wine list as small as ours, however over the last few months of travelling around the country to see our cheesemakers, dairies, fisherman and farmers, we always managed to find time to pop into a vineyard or two. By doing this we have come to realise that English made wine stands up to some of the very best in the world and is now attracting some very talented winemakers to produce some outstanding wines. At Angela's the idea that we can visit and work with the vineyards or winemakers directly makes it an extra special relationship and one that we intend to continue. We are on our way to making ours a wine list that compromises mainly of English made wines, and if one day it can be all English made then that sounds perfect. Here are just a couple of the wines we are currently in love with...

Westwell, Kent

Adrian at Westwell is slowly becoming the rising-star of English wine makers. He is creating incredibly drinkable wines using a low interventionist approach. Situated on the North Downs, he produces both elegant sparkling wines as well as less traditional skin-contact Ortegas aged in a traditional terracotta Amphora. All brilliant.

Tillingham, Sussex

Tillingham Vineyard is at the forefront of winemaking in England and is producing some of the most in demand wines in the UK. Ben Walgate is using English grapes, with a variety of techniques – including fermentation in a Georgian Qvevri buried underground – that result in very individual, incredibly textured and very drinkable wines.
