Angela’s and Dory’s may be situated around the corner from each other but we see the two sites as all part of the same idea.
Angela’s came first, and is a small seafood restaurant and rooms serving delicious, local seafood, alongside simple, seasonal vegetable-based dishes. It’s little sister Dory’s, is a seafood bar – serving raw, pickled, cured and baked seafood and vegetable dishes – that overlooks Margate main sands. It also has a wine shop selling English and European organic, biodynamic and low-intervention wines that respect both soil and grape.
Our philosophy for both is an uncomplicated one. We will always consider our people and our planet first, working directly with growers, fishermen and suppliers who understand how to make the most of their produce and at the same time minimise the impact on our environment.
We also spend a lot of time researching the removal of plastic from our supply chain, from dairy, vegetables and oil, through to fish and salt. Despite not being perfect, we are constantly striving to make our practices better.
We have also partnered with the wonderful Windmill Community Gardens in Margate to turn our vegetable food waste directly into compost – in our own composting machine – to enable them to produce more of our raw and organic ingredients.... helping to close the loop, just a little, on our business.
We still have to learn how to live peacefully,
not only with our fellow men but also with nature.
